The "What Is" files are some pieces I have put together trying to cover certain technical aspects of music and musical reproduction.
I try to explain things clearly to those with no exposure to them. I cannot claim that the information I provide is technically complete, but I have tried to be as thorough as I can. I have not included any math or physics, although sometimes I will refer indirectly to the "hard stuff" in the background of a given concept.
These are not intended to be the last word on their subjects, but might prove of interest to someone attempting to increase their general knowledge about this field. Combined with other reading, I think what I have done will be useful to enough people to be worth including here.
