The large Advent speakers, both "original" and "new" have a weak link in their implementation:
- The thumbscrew terminals on the back are awkward to use, often make a poor electrical connection, and can lead to short-circuiting of stray wire strands
- The internal wiring is fairly skimpy (20 or 22 AWG), and the crossover capacitors are the cheapest available
- They also had tweeter level and/or frequency contour switches, which are prone to corrosion and poor contact quality
Here is an example from a vintage original large Advent Loudspeaker ("OLA"):

The ACC 004 AB is a complete assembly I designed and developed to remedy all these issues.
It features a high quality, non-resonant 1/4" thick 5" by 6" MDF backplate, with a pair of gold-plated, color-coded five-way binding posts securely attached on standard 3/4" centers. These will easily accomodate up to 10 AWG wire in the hole through the posts, along with several other connection methods.
The crossover capacitor (typically two in parallel to reach the correct 13 or 16 uF value) is a high-quality film type with vanishingly low deviation from the ideal impedance curve, and the internal wires are color-coded 16 AWG oxygen-free copper with connectors that match the terminals on the drivers.
When I build these, I do not include the contour switching, for obvious reasons. I wire them using the components (usually specific resistors) that are equivalent to the switch positiong(s) the owner indicates a preference for. In the absence of a preference I assemble them in the "flat" configuration.
It comes complete with a built-in sealing gasket, mounting screws, and installation instructions. Also, here is a step-by-step pictorial showing how to install it.
The version for the New Large Advent is complete as priced above. With the original Advent loudspeaker, either the owner trades in (sends me first) the large choke coil (inductor) for the woofer (basically just send the whole crossover), or there is a higher cost, as indicated above and on the order form.
Here is a photo of the version for the New Large Advent (linked to a larger copy):

This one is configured in the "extended" switch position for the tweeter level, but still uses the choke to roll off the woofer.
